Clay is the main component of natural tiles
Prehistoric mention of clay (main raw materials for the manufacture of natural tiles) can be found in the Bible, in the Old Testament. Over the past few thousand years, the technology for making tiles has not changed much. Still, this is a piece of goods. In ancient times, people made dishes from clay, flat walls and roofs of houses. Accidentally stepping on the edge of the raw blade of clay brick, the master was amazed, looking at the resulting stepped shape. This is one of the legends of the appearance of tiles. The hardened tiles of the tiles from the burned house prompted the idea to burn the consciously tile plates.
The technology of manufacturing natural tiles is as follows: the desired workpiece is formed from oily clay, then it is dried, covered with a protective layer and annealed in a furnace at a temperature of about 1000 degrees. Several ancient types of tiles have survived and successfully applied to our days: a flat “beaver tail”, a two-layer “munk-nunni” (monk and a nun), Roman, S-shaped.
